The Knight card

Rank 11 of 14

The Knight

“Trains hard. Fights rarely. Flexes always.”

Once the kingdom's golden boy, now more of a… polished aluminum man.

This knight peaked early (parades, praise, his own limited-edition goblet), but lately he's been less “protector of the people” and more “guy who talks about leg day during battles.” His armor's custom. His sword's mostly decorative. His loyalty? Mostly conditional.

He still shows up when duty calls. Eventually. Usually after protein-shake time. His tales of valor tend to involve questionable alliances, suspicious selfies and “epic duels” that may or may not have been bar fights with bad lighting.

Four copies, four lines

There are four Knight cards in the deck, and each one says something different.

  • Trains hard. Fights rarely. Flexes always.
  • Cool shades to compensate for the lack of a white horse.
  • Too noble to ghost you. Too busy to text back.
  • We all know the shiny armor is a gift from Mom.

In the game: beats ranks 1–10, loses to 12–14 and the Crown. See card ranks.

The real medieval knight

Knighthood sounds glamorous, but it was expensive: a warhorse, armour, weapons, servants, and a pile of duties that came with the title. Plenty of men who qualified quietly avoided it.

So English kings made it compulsory. Under a rule called distraint of knighthood, by the late 1200s any man with land worth £20 a year had to be knighted or pay a fine. Our Knight would have paid the fine and kept the shades.

More medieval jobs, and the world they live in: the world of Crown Shuffle.
